Infinite’s Sunggyu Says He Experienced Hardships

Infinite’s Sunggyu recently revealed some of the struggles he experienced in the past.

On April 27, he confessed on JTBC‘s “Lee Soo Geun and Kim Byung Man’s High Society” that “I wasn’t brought up from a wealthy background. During high school, I lived in a rooftop room.” He continued, “When my parents first set up their business, I enlisted in the military. But afterwards business failed and things became pretty bad. But since I’m the son, I made sure it didn’t affect my attitude. Even though I feel okay going into rooftop rooms, I still remember those times of hardship.”

The atmosphere on the set turned solemn as Sunggyu shared his memories of hardship. It caused the viewers’ hearts to go out to the singer who worked hard and diligently to get to where he is today.

K.Will “Love Blossom” – Kpop Music Mondays

K.Will Love Blossom

This week’s Kpop Music Monday is for K.Will’s “Love Blossom,” which we think is an awesome song, fun video, and we’re happy to talk about. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the hilarity below:

Ok, so “hilarity” might be a bit too strong of a word. It’s not like “Itaewon Freedom” hilarious. It’s just got a funny twist to it, and is more funny along the lines that it makes you smile, more than something that gets you howling, you know?

Anyhow, we joked about not considering what K.Will said about his video from our interview with him last Friday (which should be going up this week, by the way!), but we weren’t really joking. Our Music Mondays are kinda meant to be more our reactions and responses to a video, rather than other people’s responses to it. And we pay attention to irrelevant details most of the time, because those fascinate us the most, like how the car was a clown car. Other details we didn’t talk about:

K.Will's Walls and Doghouse

1) We were a bit confused about how bizarre this amusement park was, with the unfinished paint jobs and a random dog house. Maybe that was filmed somewhere else, because I don’t think we’d see that at any amusement park…no? How are dogs supposed to use the dog house? Is there a really long lineup for it? Are there those metal pole dividers with ropes between so doggies can form an organized swirling lineup? Do other doggies butt in line? So many questions! And that paint was just bad.

2) Did anyone notice that random blossom burst at 3:02? Myungsoo and Dasom are there being all romantic, but the director was like “NOT ROMANTIC ENOUGH. MOAR PETALS!” and someone farts out a big burst of them. If you go frame by frame you can see how it starts as a clump together, and then spreads out into the wind. I want to know who was crouched down at their butts and throwing the petals out. And…how does one apply for this job?

Anyhow, since K.Will was nice enough to sign a bunch of CDs for us, we wanted to give one of them away for this week’s Music Monday! We’ll do another giveaway for the rest of the CDs when we publish the interview, of course :D For this giveaway, though, all you gotta do is:

1) Be Subscribed to us on YouTube (it wouldn’t hurt if you subscribed to our other channels as well!)
2) Let us know how you would have exacted your revenge on the jerky co-workers. Leave your answer in the comments to our YouTube video, or leave them here, but make sure you leave your YouTube username in the comment here, so we can check if you’re subscribed or not.

It’s that easy! If you don’t win, you can still pick up K.Will’s album on either iTunes or YesAsia. If you do win, though, you’ll see your name when we announce the winners in the bloopers to next week’s Music Monday. We’ll put them here, in the blog post, at the bottom, like we’re doing for this week’s Bloopers. By the way, here are this week’s Bloopers.

Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 – April Week 4

There was nothing to stop PSY’s “Gentlemen” from taking the top spot this week.

It only took “Gentlemen” two weeks to reach the top spot on our chart, same as “Gangnam Style,” and it was only four points shy of a perfect 1000 score. The only blemish was at KBS Music Bank K-Chart, where “Gentlemen” was ranked at No. 2 behind K.Will’s “Love Blossom.”“Gentlemen” did take over as No. 1 on K-Chart this week, so we may see a perfect score for this song next week.  Despite the fact that PSY is not scheduled to perform this song on any music shows, its popularity is not affected at all.

Like “Gangnam Style,” “Gentlemen” has also went viral on Youtube, as its MV recorded over one hundred million views in just four days and is over two hundred million now.“Gentlemen” has an infectious melody that will put listeners on their feet.Let see if this song will stay at the top for a long time like “Gangnam Style” (6 weeks).

“Gentlemen” is also the second digital single which to ever hit the No. 1 spot on our chart.  2NE1 did it last year with “I Love You” last year. Both songs are coming from YG Entertainment artists, who once again defy the odds.

K.Will’s “Love Blossom” was a hard luck second again this week.  Its score of 952 points is enough to win in almost any other week.  This song did pick up wins on music shows but its overall score is unfortunately not high enough as the competition turns up a few notches now that we are heading into summer.

Besides “Gentleman,” there are three other new songs in the top 10.  Moving up 24 spots to No. 6 is Seo In Guk’s latest hit “With Laughter Or With Tears.”  He has been gaining a lot of popularity both in his music and his acting. “With Laughter Or With Tears” is a soul ballad with R&B rhythms. The sad guitar melody brings out the mood of a man’s honest feelings after a breakup.

Jay Park returns to the top 10 at No. 9 with “JOAH,” moving up 22 spots from last week.  This is a medium-tempo R&B number with strong, addictive beats along with Jay’s soft and powerful vocals. The song is about the thrill and excitement a guy feels when in love.

Up 18 spots to No. 10 is Lyn’s “Tonight,” a preview song from her just released eight album part 1.  It is an R&B number featuring rap from Bae Chi Gi and holds love lyrics exchanged by the two singers.  Lyn has just released part 1 of her 8th album. The title track “Breakable Heart” is expected to hit our chart soon.

Orange Caramel and 10cm Team Up for New Version of “Hug Me”

According to several sources, Orange Caramel and 10cm will release a collaborative album together in mid-May. The two teams came together for “Re;code” project, which brings together underground and mainstreamartists to create a new paradigm of trend in music.

Orange Caramel and 10cm recently finished recording 10cm’s “Hug Me” together. The original song was released in 2011 and it repeats vocal Kwon Jung Ryul‘s whiney and yet endearing voice singing “Hug me, hug me, hug me, I said hug me.”

Since Orange Caramel and 10cm have such different styles, many fans are expecting to see something new in their collaborative work together. Orange Caramel’s garnered much attention with their young, cute, and lively candy-culture concept and 10cm is known for their sexual and sensual vocals.

“Re;code” project previously garnered much attention with the collaboration of hip hop duo Geeks and SISTAR‘s So You in “Officially Missing You, Too.” Also, Infinite‘s Woo Hyun worked with singer-songwriter Lucia and Day Break and Sunny Hill came together for this project.

Orange Caramel and 10cm Team Up for New Version of “Hug Me”

According to several sources, Orange Caramel and 10cm will release a collaborative album together in mid-May. The two teams came together for "Re;code" project, which brings together underground and mainstreamartists to create a new paradigm of trend in music.

Orange Caramel and 10cm recently finished recording 10cm's "Hug Me" together. The original song was released in 2011 and it repeats vocal Kwon Jung Ryul's whiney and yet endearing voice singing "Hug me, hug me, hug me, I said hug me."

Since Orange Caramel and 10cm have such different styles, many fans are expecting to see something new in their collaborative work together. Orange Caramel's garnered much attention with their young, cute, and lively candy-culture concept and 10cm is known for their sexual and sensual vocals.

"Re;code" project previously garnered much attention with the collaboration of hip hop duo Geeks and SISTAR's So You in "Officially Missing You, Too." Also, Infinite's Woo Hyun worked with singer-songwriter Lucia and Day Break and Sunny Hill came together for this project.

50 Idols Come Together to Film “Infinity Challenge”

Wow, what a gathering!

It's being reported that 50 different idol members have participated in a "quiz special" for the popular MBC variety show, "Infinity Challenge." The idols include groups SHINee, 4minute, Infinite, After School, B.A.P, Secret, Teen Top, Girl's Day, G.NA, and more. They gathered today, April 25, to film the special which takes its format from KBS' "Challenge! Golden Bell," a long-running survival quiz show. This special is said to be one of the largest ever filmed for "Infinity Challenge."

The recording for the special is taking place in two parts. The first part was filmed today and second part will be filmed next week May 2. The broadcast date for this special has not been decided yet.

Interestingly, for today's shoot the idol singers made their way directly from the airport after coming back from filming for Mnet's "M!Countdown" special in Taiwan. "M!Countdown Ni Hao Taiwan" airs tonight. Stayed tuned at Soompi for updates!
